General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and the California Consumer Protection Act (“CCPA”) grant users a right to data portability. However, retrieving personal data from companies can be time-consuming and requires specific steps for each. This add-on tries to solve this process by providing an automated and manual user-driven data extraction approach.
Its main goal is to provide data relevant or subject to data portability in a machine-readable format (JSON) to the end-user.
It offers two methods of scraping:
Method 1. Manual approach: The user has to select the data desired by point and clicking on the data. A JSON object will be dynamically created and available for download.
Method 2. Partially automated: Upon activation, the user has to navigate throughout the website to capture data automatically. The add-on will do its best to filter out irrelevant data, and the end-user can view the data captured and download the data as desired.
What this add-on DOESN'T do:
- It does not communicate with any servers or endpoints to collect your data.
- It does not have access to your data. It's saved on your computer, and you'll be the only one with access to it.
